Shiza Hassan bridal winter collection 2016-17 is made of craft led pieces from the influence and spirit of the most notable Persian traditional artwork of woven carpets.
This is a tribute to this woven wonderment of over two thousand year old craft that reached its epitome in Iran during the Safavid era.
Aroos-e- Abrashami in Persian or ‘The Silken bride’ for PLBW16 is a reinterpretation of this theme with the development of beautiful prints on silk and inspired motifs and stories from this Persian treasure.
The underlying stories of the collection entail the Shikargah, Tree of Life & Geometrical patterns. There’s an abundant use of motifs with hunting scenes, vine interlacement, vases, arches, medallions and architectural motifs all having context to the present and past of different tribes and craft centers of that time.
This collection is a desire to evolve and step out from the comfort zone and develop a thematic series with elegance and beauty. This collection is as much contemporary as it is on the historical perspective with clean cuts fused with traditional oriental details to create pieces that are ageless.
Expect a variety of cuts from jackets, flap shirts, bustiers, flowy drapes, shararas and, lehngas channeling eastern vibes yet retaining modern elegance. The garments are such that they can be styled and worn as separates too. Fashion designer Shiza Hassan is a LUMS graduate with a diploma in interior design from NCA.
